· Visitor Research Volunteers will help the Museum connect with visitors and make art more relevant in people’s lives through data collection and observational studies in gallery spaces.
Interviews will take place November 28 through December 11.
If you’ve thought about volunteering at the Museum, this is an exciting time to get involved. For an application and information about these or other volunteer roles, visit the Volunteer section of the Museum’s website at http://www.nelson-atkins.org/support/Volunteer.cfm

More than $5,000 Raised for Migrant School in Beijing

On June 23rd, more than 80 guests came to the beautiful home of Sarah and Steve Guthrie, and joined the fundraising event led by Mr. Doug Ahrens, a KCCAA member, for the Migrant School (Jingyu Xi Wang Elementary) in Beijing. Mr. Ahrens wants to raise at least $3,000 by July to help the school purchase and install 6 air conditioners before the brutal summer heat makes the over-crowded classrooms unbearable for students. Silent auction featured more than 30 arts and crafts items donated by Mr. Ahrens and many guests. Bo Ling Chinese Restaurant, and Thai Place donated gift cards. Many families donated their home-made food. Dinner was also supported by the Kim Ling Chinese Restaurant. Jasmine Dance Group and Le Yue Choirs entertained the guests with their wonderful Chinese folk dances and song.

Right before the entertainment began, Mr. Doug Ahrens shared his unique and memorable teaching experience in April at the Jing Yu School in Beijing. His love for the children of migrant workers and his desire to improve the environment of the school deeply touched everyone.

Thanks to all the support from our community, we were able to raise more than $5,000 for the migrant school. This amount exceeds our original goal of $3,000. The fund will be used for installing 6 air conditioners and providing additional school supplies for the Jingyu Xi Wang Elementary School this summer.
